On January 24, 2026, Alex Pretti was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

Resolution is determined by whether the ICE agent is officially charged with a crime by any State or Federal prosecutor before December 31, 2026.

Because prosecutors often file multiple charges, the answers in this market are independent.

This means if the agent is charged with multiple crimes (e.g. Murder and Obstruction) multiple answers will resolve YES.

—-

Murder

Resolves YES for any degree of murder (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) under State or Federal law.

Manslaughter

Resolves YES for any degree of manslaughter (Voluntary or Involuntary) under State or Federal law.

Federal Civil Rights Violation

Resolves YES for charges filed under 18 U.S.C. § 242 (Deprivation of Rights).

Other or Lesser Charges

Resolves YES for any other criminal charge not listed above. Examples include Obstruction of Justice, Perjury, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, or Official Misconduct.

No Charges Filed

Resolves YES if no criminal charges are filed by the resolution date.

Initial Filing is Definitive

If charges are filed but later dropped, dismissed, or plea-bargained down after the initial filing, the market still resolves YES for the original charge.

  • Update 2026-01-08 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Unintentional murder (such as Minnesota's "unintentional second-degree murder") will be counted as murder for resolution purposes.

  • Update 2026-01-26 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): CBP (Customs and Border Protection) agents are treated as equivalent to ICE agents for the purpose of this market. If the shooter was a CBP agent rather than an ICE agent, the market will still resolve based on whether charges are filed against them.

  • Update 2026-01-26 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): If either shooter is charged with any of the listed crimes, the corresponding answer will resolve YES. "No Charges Filed" only resolves YES if neither shooter is charged.

If it was CBP and not ICE agents involved, how does that impact this market?

@EvanDaniel equivalent for the purpose of this market

@DavidFWatson Thanks for clarifying!

It wasn't an ICE agent and there appear to have been two shooters.

@AndrewHebb if either is charged with each of these, it resolves yes. No Charges only resolves yes if neither is charged

bought Ṁ25 YES

Um isn't Jonathan Ross the guy who killed Renee Good? I think you have the wrong ICE agent in the description.

@Qoiuoiuoiu Ty, yes. I just cloned the Good event.
