A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll seems to show that Democrats are heavily in favor of a change in leadership - and first-round results from the NYC Mayoral primary shows Mamdani winning over Cuomo by about 7 percentage points. In spite of this, Jeffries has held back on endorsing Mamdani, and seemingly hasn't changed tactics to seize the narrative. Will House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries be challenged in and then lose any Democratic primary in 2026?

Any primary counts. The obvious one is if he loses the primary for his seat in the House, but even if he decides to run for senate or something instead and loses that primary, this resolves YES. If Jeffries changes affiliation or doesn't run in 2026, this question resolves N/A.

Am I insane? Jeffries has no opposition in his primary

bought Ṁ250 NO

@Conflux bot mistake

@Conflux Polymarket has him at 50% to win the primary. Not completely sure why. He’s 76% be next new speaker.

opened a Ṁ25,000 NO at 42% order

@Jack1 I believe it’s because the primary is probably going to be cancelled (no other contestants) so it may resolve to other rather than jeffries

@Jack1 goofy

@Conflux if it's cancelled i think this HAS to resolve n/a right

@Marnix hmm I think there’s a case for NO (that’s common sense too)

bought Ṁ50 NO

Wouldn’t he rather be house majority leader than random senator

@Conflux Unlikely that he'd go for the senate seat, that's mostly just trying to cover the bases in case he decides to go for something else. The far more likely way this goes YES is if he loses the primary for his house seat.

@Marnix Hm. I guess it could happen. Is anyone mad at Hakeem Jeffries specifically, as opposed to “the establishment” generally?

@Conflux There's been some pretty consistent criticism of the general Dem leadership tactic of "do nothing, and wait for election season" - but as for him in specific, mostly drama surrounding his lack of endorsement for Mamdani, and potentially More Drama depending on if he ends up endorsing him or not.
