Resolution Criteria

The market resolves YES if Benedict and Sophie are in a mutual, established romantic relationship by the end of Episode 8 (the final episode of Season 4). A mutual relationship means both characters have explicitly acknowledged and accepted their romantic commitment to each other. Part 2 releases on February 26, 2026. Resolution will be determined by viewing the final episode on Netflix.

Background

Season 4 adapts Julia Quinn's "An Offer From a Gentleman" and follows Benedict Bridgerton, who is bewitched by a mysterious Lady in Silver at a masquerade ball, unaware that she is Sophie Baek, a maid. Sophie is the product of a lord-maid relationship in Regency-era London, which left her without status or security after her parents' deaths. By the end of Part 1, Benedict and Sophie succumb to their passion, but Benedict makes a shocking proposal to Sophie—specifically, he asks Sophie to be his mistress. For Sophie, the idea of being a mistress is the worst possible thing she could be asked.
