Will the US Government issue a statement criticising the Code of Practice of the EU AI Act in 2025?

YES

The Code of Practice (CoP) is being drafted currently, soon to be completed. It is supposed to be signed by the companies who would agree to abide by the Code to comply with the AI Act. Given recent political tensions between the US and the EU on tech regulation, there is a chance that the US Government attempts to prevent the Code of Practice from acceptance.

One way this might happen is by issuing a statement to discourage American companies from signing the Code, but this question is intended to catch many possible ways.

I resolved yes because of the many reports that the US has criticised the code of practice, both publicly and privately (crucially, since I did not specify that this had to be public). The reported letter to the EU in April 2025 qualifies.

Why is this so low?

>A spokesperson for the Commission confirmed earlier this week that it had received a letter from the US government’s Mission to the EU pushing back against the Code. The administration led by Republican President Donald Trump has been critical of the EU’s digital rules, claiming that it stifles innovation.

@hyperion I assume title should say 2025, but says 2024.

@ScipioFabius Thanks -- I've modified this title on behalf of @hyperion for now.
