After Secret Wars (or the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga) will Marvel studios reboot the MCU?
Options will resolve as follows:
- A hard reboot would erase the established history and start from scratch.
- A soft reboot would maintain the existing history but follow a different timeline, bring in variants to replace existing characters, merge universes, retcon history or some other plot contrivance.
- No reboot would maintain the timeline as is.
The market will end on the date of the release of Secret Wars.
- Update 2025-04-05 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Clarification of Reboot Types - Soft Reboot: Merging multiple universes into one with a combined history (even if some of the same actors are maintained) will be assessed as a soft reboot.
- No Reboot: If the entire established timeline is preserved—with only a few character variants replacing deceased ones—the outcome will be considered a no reboot.

If multiple universes, (eg MCU-616 and current X-Men universe) are merged into one universe with a "combined" history (but maintaining some of the same actors) is that what you mean by a soft reboot?
What about if the entire history of MCU-616 is preserved, but with variants brought in to replace a select few dead characters (a la Gamora in Endgame)?
Hi
I saw this article awhile back and believe the content.

Its gonna be a 20-year-old franchise. Actors will want to be released from contracts and Feige might want to add variants of past characters (ex. a "variant" of T'Challa), the X-Men, and whoever else in a more streamlined manner.
