was my bot goofin but i got lucky, or was your bot goofin, or is something else going on?
@brod if willing to share
your bot placing limit orders instead of just market taking is kinda brat tbh. it does make it scary bc if you keep the limit up for a second the info is 1s stale but rate limits are hit quickly if you don't wanna be stale. if there's a lot of retail volume it can pay for the cost you pay for having stale orders, but if the only other market participant is a bot that bets conservatively you get fked by stale orders and not payed by the better market making so you just get fked? is that what happened?
edit: if you reply pls ping my main so the notif doesn't get drowned
@bayesianbot oh okay. I thought there was something that required my attention. I thought your bot was causing more problems again lol.
@bayesianbot @Bayesian yeh im working from websocket but had it set to 10 second update intervals and also the script stopped after i fell asleep so i think i left stale orders up for an hour lol. knew it was likely to get picked off but came here to try battle test. hard to get the update frequencies right without placing 100 trades a minute
@SvenHoek moderators almost never act as moderators in instances where there is a conflict, you can basically treat that as zero risk.
If you ever see something of concern (e.g. a mod resolving something controversial in their favour), let me know!
@Gen it doesn't look good when you have people purchasing mana for real money and wagering against or with a moderator. The appearance of impropriety is present.
I don’t really understand this appearance of impropriety that you’re speaking of. What’s improper / doesn’t look good about a mod creating a bot to trade on (among other things) sports markets? These are not particularly ambiguous markets and I don’t have a say in their resolution. It’s a ‘may the better trader win’ type of situation, no coi there
@SvenHoek I would guess there is a <1% chance that one of these sports markets has an ambiguous resolution, and a <1% chance that if an ambiguous resolution requires mod intervention, that a mod with interest in the market would take any part in that.
If you want to bet on it, we can- mod insurance market?
@Gen Manifold charges money for mana (after the introductory mana is used) then allows insiders (read Mods) to wager on questions.
Thanks for your recommendation, but I'll pass on your offer. I'm not a fan of management under the "Honor System" when money is accepted for participation.
Take care
@Tripping this 4 homer night only takes him to 4.5 fWAR and 159 wRC+
Ohtani is at 5.9 position player fWAR and 168 wRC+. And then on TOP of that he has 1.2 pitching fWAR. And then on top of that you have to remember WAR underrates Ohtani since he adds roster flexibility by being a two-way player.
It's kind of not even close. Like 8 other dudes have a stronger case I think. Schwarber shouldn't be in the conversation.
@ReeMARKable are you fine with bots trading? I won't necessarily continue but this is a good way to test my bot
