Background

Squid Game Season 2 was released on December 26, 2024, and received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. While Season 2 maintained strong performances and production values, many viewers felt it didn't capture the same magic as the original season.

Netflix has officially confirmed that Squid Game will return for a third and final season. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is set to return to complete his vision for the series. Season 3 is expected to release June 27th in 2025.

Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve to YES if Squid Game Season 3's average IMDB episode rating (calculated by averaging the individual episode ratings) is higher than Season 2's average IMDB episode rating.

The market will resolve to NO if Season 3's average rating is equal to or lower than Season 2's average.

If Season 3 is canceled or not released by December 31, 2026, this market will resolve to NO.

Ratings will be determined based on the official IMDB ratings one month after the full season release to allow for sufficient viewer ratings to accumulate.

Considerations

  • Season 2 was criticized for its pacing and narrative structure, which some viewers felt was setting up Season 3 rather than standing strong on its own.

  • The final season of a series often receives polarized ratings, as expectations are high and conclusions can be divisive.

  • Update 2025-08-06 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator is resolving this market to YES because no one logged the precise ratings one month after Season 2's release, as originally specified in the resolution criteria.

As mentioned by @Ziddletwix , since no one logged the precise 1 month ratings after release. I am going to resolve to yes for this market.

bought Ṁ100 YES

@Mochi so no one logged this precisely 1 month after release, so the current scores are the best we have.

taking the avg episode rating, S3 is a tiny tiny bit higher. and this should resolve YES
