• in any type of official/unofficial physical custody in any country (jail, prison, institutionalized, any type of confinement, kidnapped, or unknown)

• in the US but can't travel out of a single state

• Overseas but under some physical restrictions such as can't leave a certain city, hotel, area or actually physically confined

• lost / MIA in another country (i.e. nobody has heard from him in 1 month, he's not in the US, presumed lost, etc.)

• passed away

Counts as FREE

• in the US or other countries and can travel around the US and internationally, even if he is banned from more countries than just Japan and presumably Israel

• in US, passport revoked but still free to travel around the country

• In other country with passport taken by police/etc but otherwise free
